......There's gold, and it's haunting and haunting;
It's luring me on as of old;
Yet it isn't the gold that I'm wanting
So much as just finding the gold.
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

Cynthia Murrell Pendleton has been an Anchorage resident
since 1967 when she came to Alaska to teach. She has a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Arts from Alaska Pacific
University. Besides teaching art at Meers Junior High, she
is a member of the Alaska Watercolor Society. She won
first place in the Fur Rondy Juried Art Show in 1970 and
designed the Fur Rondy collectors pin in 1989.
Like many Alaskan artists, Cindy finds herself inspired
by the natural beauty that surrounds us and reflects
that inspiration in her works. As a teacher and a mom,
she also frequently finds her artwork portraying our
greatest natural resource - the children of Alaska.
Cindy is my sister and has given me permission to post her work here. :-)
I am Sooooo happy to share it with everyone!
